چکیده
Practitioners who rely on adverse impact analysis for the evaluation and development of selection procedures need to carefully consider the adequacy of the samples used to compute adverse impact statistics. A method is presented for estimating the minimum sample size needed to test for adverse impact with adequate statistical power. The required sample size is often extremely large, particularly for small effects when the selection rate and the proportion of minority applicants are small. However, smaller samples will be adequate when the magnitude of the group difference is large. ______________________________________________________________________________

2002: Section IV: Forest Vegetation Management
A total of 13 herbicide treatments (Table 1) were applied to recently established slash pine plantations in Alabama and Louisiana. Six treatments were applied early (M arch) and seven were applied late (M ay). All treatments were replicated four times, and four replications of an untreated check were also evaluated. Total spray volume was 10 gpa for all applications. Pine heights and groundline...
متن کاملThe Effects of Bolus Volume and Texture on Pharyngeal Pressure Events Using High-resolution Manometry and Its Comparison with Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Study.
BACKGROUND/AIMS The purpose of this study was to develop new parameters of high-resolution manometry (HRM) and to applicate these to quantify the effect of bolus volume and texture on pharyngeal swallowing. METHODS Ten healthy subjects prospectively swallowed dry, thin fluid 2 mL, thin fluid 5 mL, thin fluid 10 mL, and drinking twice to compare effects of bolus volume. To compare effect of te...
متن کاملUltrasensitive detection of unknown colon cancer-initiating mutations using the example of the Adenomatous polyposis coli gene.
Detection of cancer precursors contributes to cancer prevention, for example, in the case of colorectal cancer. To record more patients early, ultrasensitive methods are required for the purpose of noninvasive precursor detection in body fluids. Our aim was to develop a method for enrichment and detection of known as well as unknown driver mutations in the Adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene....
متن کاملGetting Inside the HRM – Performance Relationship
This paper argues that employee attitudes and behaviour need to be explicitly incorporated into models of HRM and performance and into related empirical studies if we are to improve our understanding of the HRM – performance relationship. At the same time, employee concerns have been neglected in the stream of research on HRM and performance. A simple model is presented and two large-scale cros...
متن کاملThe Importance of Sectoral Differences in the Application of (Complementary) HRM Practices for Innovation Performance
Recent theoretical and empirical analysis in the field of economic organisation has focussed almost exclusively on identifying organisational practices and complementarities between such practices, invariant to the type of activity in question. However, this paper takes its point of departure in the observation from organisational theory that more knowledgeintensive production activities often ...
